Smart Monitoring for Dubai Delivery Motorcycles Mandatory in 2027

The Roads and Transport Authority will require delivery motorcycle fleets to install smart tracking devices and connect to a central monitoring platform from the second half of 2027.

An optional transition period will run through the first half of 2027, allowing delivery companies to prepare their fleets before the system becomes mandatory.

The platform will use Internet of Things-enabled devices, advanced cameras and data analytics to monitor rider behaviour including speeding, sudden acceleration and harsh braking. It will also collect information on routes and driving patterns, giving companies real-time data to assess rider performance and identify areas requiring training or road-safety awareness.

RTA said the system will create an integrated operational database that can support future regulation and field monitoring of the delivery sector. Companies will also be able to use the platform to identify unsafe behaviour earlier and introduce corrective measures.

The initiative is being developed in cooperation with Dubai Police General Command and other relevant entities, with RTA describing it as a move from conventional inspections towards proactive, data-driven monitoring of delivery fleets.
