Somali international referee Omar Artan has expressed his desire to settle in Egypt and officiate matches in the Egyptian Premier League, having submitted an official request to the Referees Committee of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA).
In televised remarks, Essam Abdel Fattah, the head of the Referees Committee said that the committee had received Artan’s letter, noting that the request had received an ‘initial welcome’. The matter will be presented to the EFA Board of Directors to make a final decision and determine the necessary legal and administrative procedures.
Artan has emerged in recent years as one of Africa’s elite referees, attracting attention on the international stage. He has officiated high-profile matches outside the continent, with his international profile continuing to grow.
