Ticketless Parking Introduced at Abu Dhabi Multi-Storey Car Parks
The new system uses number plate recognition and automatic payments through Darb e-wallets.
A ticketless parking system has been introduced at multi-storey car parks and selected private parking facilities in Abu Dhabi, using automatic number plate recognition to manage parking sessions and payments.
The Free Flow Parking System, activated by Q Mobility, automatically starts a parking session when a vehicle enters a participating facility and ends it when the vehicle exits. Parking charges are then deducted directly from the driver's Darb e-wallet, eliminating the need for payment machines, parking cards, paper tickets or other manual payment methods.
The rollout marks the first phase of a wider expansion planned across the emirate, although transport authorities have not disclosed which locations are included in the initial launch. Drivers using the system are required to maintain sufficient funds in their Darb e-wallets to ensure payments can be processed and to avoid potential fines.
According to Q Mobility, the system is intended to streamline parking operations and simplify the user experience through automated payment technology.
Q Mobility manages the Darb and Mawaqif systems under the supervision of the Department of Municipalities and Transport. The company was established by ADQ in 2024.
