Traffic Upgrades Completed Across Six Dubai School Zones
The summer works covered more than 10 schools, adding road links, parking and safety measures across six areas of Dubai.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has completed a series of traffic upgrades across six school-zone locations, with the works aimed at easing congestion and improving safety for students, parents and school staff.
The improvements were carried out during the summer break and cover more than 10 schools across Wadi Al Safa 4, Al Barsha, Umm Al Sheif, Dubai Motor City, Dubai Studio City and Al Sufouh.
Among the main projects was a new road connecting Al Qudra Road and Hessa Street through Dubai Motor City and Dubai Studio City, improving access to and from GEMS Metropole School – Motor City.
At Horizon International School in Umm Al Sheif, parking capacity was doubled with the addition of new spaces, while the service road next to the Al Barsha South schools complex received upgraded entrances and exits.
Traffic improvements were also introduced around The International School of Choueifat – Dubai in Al Sufouh. In Wadi Al Safa 4, the road near GEMS Winchester School – Dubai was upgraded alongside new traffic-calming and safety measures around nearby schools.
The authority said the projects form part of wider efforts to improve connections between residential, educational and development areas while making daily school journeys safer and more convenient.
Carrying out the work during the school holidays also allowed construction to proceed with less disruption to motorists and take advantage of lower traffic volumes.
Parents and school-bus drivers have been urged to use designated pick-up and drop-off areas and avoid stopping in spaces reserved for People of Determination or emergency vehicles. Motorists were also reminded to slow down near schools, follow traffic signs and stop when school buses display warning signals.
