UAE Ranks First in the Arab Digital Economy Index 2026
The index assesses digital infrastructure, government services, innovation, skills, cybersecurity and investment across Arab countries.
The UAE ranked first among Arab countries in the 2026 Arab Digital Economy Index, which compares digital development across infrastructure, public services, innovation, skills, cybersecurity and investment.
Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman joined the UAE in the index’s highest-performing group.
The index combines several measures of digital readiness, including the quality and reach of internet and technology infrastructure, the availability and uptake of digital government services, workforce skills, innovation capacity, cybersecurity and levels of technology investment.
The wider report found continued progress across Arab countries in digital infrastructure and government services, with connectivity and online public services expanding across the region.
However, it also identified research and innovation as areas requiring further development, alongside the need to translate technology investment more effectively into measurable economic growth.
The index is designed to provide a comparative view of how Arab economies are building and using digital systems, rather than measuring infrastructure alone.
