Ultra Gobi AlUla 2027 Opens Registration for Historic First Race

Ultra Gobi is heading outside China for the first time, with AlUla set to host the endurance race series from January 13th to 20th, 2027.

Founded in 2006 in China’s Gobi Desert along the historic Silk Road, Ultra Gobi has become one of the country’s established endurance events. Its AlUla edition will introduce five race formats across the desert landscape.

The toughest is a 400km nonstop, self-navigated ultramarathon. Other categories include a 121km nonstop A+ race, a 121km four-day team A race, a 121km four-day solo B race and a 30km one-day C race.

Beyond the distances themselves, AlUla’s setting will be central to the experience. As a certified Dark Sky Reserve, the destination offers unusually clear night skies, meaning runners will move through desert landscapes by day and beneath a largely unpolluted view of the stars at night.

Registration for Ultra Gobi AlUla is open until November 15th, 2026.
