Week-Long Heatwave to Push Temperatures to 44°C Across Egypt
High humidity is expected to make conditions feel even hotter across much of the country.
A week-long heatwave is expected to grip Egypt from June 29th, with daytime temperatures rising across the country and southern Upper Egypt forecast to reach highs of 44°C by Friday.
According to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, very hot and humid conditions will prevail across most governorates throughout the week, while coastal areas are expected to remain slightly cooler despite persistent humidity.
The authority said high humidity will make temperatures feel between 1°C and 2°C higher than the recorded shade temperatures. Feels-like temperatures are expected to reach around 37°C in Greater Cairo and the Nile Delta, while exceeding 40°C in parts of southern Egypt.
Night-time weather will remain relatively moderate in most regions, although humidity levels are expected to stay noticeable. Southern Upper Egypt is forecast to experience warmer nights throughout the period.
Intermittent winds are expected in several areas during the week. The authority also warned of morning fog affecting major highways linking Greater Cairo with the Canal cities, Central Sinai and Northern Upper Egypt, which could reduce visibility for motorists.
