Youth Competition 'Control Z' Targets Online Abuse Against Women
Youth aged 18 to 29 are invited to submit initiatives addressing online abuse and safety.
A national competition aimed at tackling digital violence against women and girls has been launched under the name Control Z, inviting youth across Egypt to submit initiatives addressing online harm.
The programme is organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and in partnership with the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It focuses on developing practical responses to risks associated with digital platforms and social media.
The competition is open to Egyptian youth aged 18 to 29, with submissions accepted for both new ideas and existing initiatives, provided they are centred on preventing digital violence against women and girls.
Organisers said the programme prioritises community-based approaches that can be implemented on the ground and contribute to raising awareness around different forms of online abuse.
Officials framed the initiative as a platform for young people to present solutions that respond to real-world challenges, particularly as digital technologies continue to shape everyday interactions.
Applications will remain open until May 30th, 2026, with submissions completed through the official registration process. Selected initiatives will receive support and funding, alongside prizes for top-performing entries.
