Claudia Khachan & Ziad Moukarzel Explore Fractured Memory on ‘The Vapo
Released on Ruptured Records, the project is an experimental sonic dialogue, blending drone ballads and fragmented textures.

Having previously collaborated in the trio Wet Silhouette, where together with the Lebanese drummer Anthony Tawil they focused on exploring the territory of art-rock, Beirut-based musician and composer Claudia Khachan and producer and sound engineer Ziad Moukarzel have reunited once again an experimental project, titled ‘The Vapornet’.
Released on Lebenese independent label Ruptured Records, the project is a 25-minute fragmented dialogue exploring the concepts of memory, intimacy, constraint, and the fractured rhythms of life. Born out of a long-distance exchange between Claudia and Ziad, the project waves drone ballads, organ swells, ambient textures, gritty bass and haunting vocal chops, resulting into what feels like a beautifully fragmented, unresolved conversation.
Claudia’s voice drifts and returns like a memory, whilst Ziad builds tension and release through layered sonic textures. Within these layers organic melodies blooms and dissove in often dense frequencies, shifting between structure and abstraction to captring both the presence and absence of human connection in a lavender haze, offering moments of stillness, unease, and unexpected emotional clarity.
In November 2023, Ziad and Claudia reunited in Beirut for a final studio session, at which point the album was largely complete. Minor adjustments were made, and the album was mixed by Sary Moussa at Tunefork Studios in February and March 2024.
