Egyptian Producer Taher Releases Emphatic Debut Album ‘Rival Conga’
Filled with acidic grooves and playful bass, ‘Rival Conga’ on Geeza Records will be a favourite amongst club dwellers and techno acts alike.
Recently launched label Geeza Records is back with its second release, shining a spotlight on the ingeniousness of Egyptian virtuoso producer Taher for his debut album ‘Rival Conga’. This follows Geeza Records’ highly acclaimed 2023 debut release with young Argentinian producer Juaan with ‘Dr. Ritmo’.
Taher's new five-track album ‘Rival Conga’ is a pulse-pounding journey through jittery grooves and fast-paced improvised techno. As a live electronic act, Taher crafts effortlessly stylized melodies with a focused and specific approach, blending a hint of retro with a playground of high end sounds.
The record kicks off with title-track ‘Rival Conga’, a wavy and blissful synth-heavy build up, before we move into ‘Marco Polo’, a playful and considered track filled with momentum and a retro caustic bleep-bloop melody that makes the journey feel wholesome.
The B-Side kicks off with ‘Pogo Slick’, a mellow, muffled and minimal effort that as the track suggests keeps you bouncing. Finally, on ‘Love of Phantom Lives’ - probably a highlight of the album for club dwellers and DJs alike - we’re taken through an insatiably infectious Acidic groove with a constant and highly danceable thumping bass.
Taher’s Rival Conga’ is available for pre-order on 12” vinyl here with the album set to be available digitally later in the year.
