Elkotsh Debuts Electro-Shaabi Album ‘rhlt jdi’ via HIZZ x Heat Crimes
Cairo’s HIZZ and Athens’ Heat Crimes team up to drop Elkotsh’s debut: a raw, percussive take on Egypt’s electro-shaabi evolution.

From the depths of Shubra El-Kheima’s sonic underground, Egyptian producer Elkotsh emerges with rhlt jdi, a blistering debut album co-released by Cairo-based label HIZZ and Athens’ experimental imprint Heat Crimes. The record is a dive into electro-shaabi’s chaotic core, part mahraganat, part acid-drenched improvisation, and entirely urgent.
Blending analog synths, shaabi percussion, and off-kilter rhythmic play, Elkotsh channels years of latent experimentation into a release that feels both lived-in and forward-leaning. Tracks like Mwlid Elgorn and 150 Leila throb with kinetic intensity, while Zikr closes the album with militant poise.
Built from years of sonic study and studio exile, rhlt jdi arrives fully-formed, a bold statement from an artist finally stepping into his own world.
Album available on Bandcamp.
