Rap of The Week | September 15-21
This week’s playlist features some of the most popular rappers in the region like Afroto, Wingii and Narcy.
This time on Rap of The Week, our playlist features regional trail blazers such as Egyptian rap star Afroto, whose latest release ‘TA TA TA’, produced by Rashed, sees him laying his energetic delivery over Khaliji rhythms. We also heard from Maadi Town Mafia member and rising rapper Wingii, who just released the second music video from his album ‘Mangesto’, making use of flashy outfits, neon lights, and creative visuals in the clip for ‘Sidi’.
Pioneering Iraqi rapper Narcy also makes an appearance on the playlist with his latest release ‘Excuse U’, where he teams up with Iraqi production duo Tribe of Monsters on the instrumental, fusing Arabic synth melodies with hard-hitting electronic drums.
Meanwhile, Moroccan rapper Mons has just released his latest single ‘Nfss Lhala’, where his rapid fire flows contrast the low-key instrumental, produced by Feykey. In the self-directed video for the track, Mons makes use of post-production techniques to layer his face on top of towering sculptures and vivid paintings displayed in an empty art gallery.
