Rap of the Week | Aug 24 - 30

On this edition of our Rap of the Week playlist, the SceneNoise team curates a selection of some of the newest hip-hop releases from across the MENA region. The playlist features new music by Sakt, Lil Baba and Turk.

Palestinian rapper Sakt releases his new full-length album titled ‘FSH TRBAY’ with lean4rec records, with the collaboration between Sakt and Uglymoss shining as a standout track. The track, titled ‘Da3’t’, sees Sakt experimenting with psychedelic elements and track duration, as the track structure only features two verses in just a 58-second runtime.

Also on the playlist is the title track from Lil Baba’s recent album titled ‘Shhhh’, an aggressive hardcore piece that showcases Lil Baba’s experimental side in full force. Here, he delivers his bars with intense emotion, accompanied by screamo ad-libs and haunting vocal samples. The track also incorporates a sample from writer Mostafa Mahmoud, discussing the effects of music on the brain, adding thematic depth to the record.

The playlist also includes Abo El Anwar’s latest release ‘Kol Mara’, Turk’s return with ‘Ansaha’ and the latest from Moscow, ‘Rayah’.
