Underground Social Launches Artist Residency in Downtown Cairo

Underground Social is opening its doors to Cairo’s creative scene with a new in-house artist residency launching this July. The pilot edition invites two artists, from any discipline , to take over the Downtown space for 48 hours, split across eight 6-hour sessions throughout the month.

In addition to studio access and community support, residents will receive a EGP 5,000 production grant and the chance to showcase their work at the end of the residency. Three of the eight sessions must be public, with open studios, live processes, or in-progress sharings encouraged to connect artists with their wider communities.

Applications are open until July 3rd, with selected artists notified by July 7tg. Whether you work in sound, visuals, movement, or words, this residency is designed to support the kind of interdisciplinary, DIY creativity that defines Cairo’s underground today.
