Deana Shaaban’s New Collection is a Material Ode to Womanhood

Egyptian designer and couturier Deana Shaaban just launched her sunny delight of a summer collection, and it’s a love letter in silk to beach wandering and late-night dinners as the sound of gently-lapping waves courts the air.

Shaaban sums up her newest collection as “free, alive, and vibrant.” Crafted from pure Indian silk, the collection comprises elegant tops, statement, flowing skirts, and the label’s signature item, the kaftan. Building on her legacy as Egypt’s answer to chic and modern iterations of the timeless outerwear piece, Shaaban shines with this bold and beachy capsule.

Celebrating a vibrant, rich array of colours, founder Deana Shaaban stressed how, during the collection’s design process, the confidence and joy of her customers is at the forefront of her mind. “We want women to thrive every minute that they’re wearing one of our pieces,” Shaaban tells SceneStyled.

The designer described her own clientele with pride, emphasising her brand’s mission: “If I had to draw up an image of the customer for this collection, she'd be any age, dancing away the days and nights, walking through her world with her back straight, smiling at everyone she meets, shining radiantly, loving herself, and giving love to the world and those around her,”

“She turns heads everywhere she goes simply because of the joyous energy she emits,” she added. “She doesn't have to do anything, she just needs to exist. To me, that’s every woman.”

With sustainability and longevity as a priority, the label is committed to designing pieces that can be “handed down through generations.” Made to last through the wear and tear of several lifetimes, but also through the many changes and dimensions that occur along the path of one woman’s life. “Our garments are designed to flow with us as our bodies change, and as our thoughts and beliefs change.”
