Pattern Up's New Palestine x England Jersey Fundraises for Gaza
Using football as a force for good, the jersey re-appropriates symbols of patriotism into those of solidarity and community.
Political artists Pattern Up have just released an England-inspired jersey that places Palestine front and centre, and its sales will go towards raising funds for humanitarian aid in Gaza.
According to Pattern Up, the profits will go to the Dignity for Palestinians Campaign, an independent non-profit organization that provides emergency health assistance to displaced Palestinians in Gaza. The rest will go towards future designs and stock.
Adorned with olive leaves and with 'FREE GAZA' written on the back, Pattern Up replaces the three lions of England's national football team crest with the word 'مناهضة', or opposition.
Pattern Up is a collective of young artists from Brighton, England, and this jersey is a collaboration with Ireland-based SpiceBag.
SpiceBag has previously released a Ireland-Palestine solidarity jersey, which also raised funds for the Dignity for Palestinians Campaign.
