Saudi's Aquarabia Will Be The Largest Water Park in the Middle East
Aquarabia will be a record-breaking attraction in many ways – the first in the Kingdom, and the largest in the Middle East.
Wave hello (get it?) to the next addition to Saudi Arabia’s Qiddiya City playground megaproject – Aquarabia Water Park. A 40-minute drive from Riyadh and tucked away amidst the Tuwaiq mountains, Qiddiya City has already promised us 27 pulse-racing attractions and 275 heart-stopping rides, within 12 boundary-pushing theme parks. A mega-playground, if you will.
We know of a Six Flags, a pro-league football stadium, a Dragon Ball theme park, and a motorsport track yet to come, but for the moment, we’ll turn our wide-eyed anticipation to what will be the first water park in the Kingdom, the largest in the region, and the only one in the world to offer a mix of wet and dry rides.
Spanning a massive 250,000 square metres, the scale alone is enough to impress. However, the promise of 22 whole rides, 4 of which will be record-breakers (!), is what actually gets the adrenaline pumping.
In addition to Junoon Drop, the world’s tallest water coaster, Speedy Jamezales, the world’s tallest drop body slide, Slitherel, the world’s longest water slide, and Jamal Joom, the world’s longest mat racer, Aquarabia Water Park will also feature the first ever adventure ride featuring fully submersible cars. We’re still waiting for Harry Potter-esque flying cars, but this is definitely a huge step in the right direction.
Somehow, there’s more. The park will hold amateur and professional watersports competitions, (so everyone bring your A-game!) as well as offer recreational water sports for anyone who fancies a change of pace from the pure adrenaline of the rollercoasters.
Aquarabia will also offer a range of experiences for the animal-lovers among us – Arabian Peak, Camel Rock and the Herding Grounds. Obviously, all those thrill-seekers out there are already asking one question – when can we go? Luckily, the water park is expected to open as early as 2025.
