Acclaimed Filmmaker Khairy Beshara Publishes His First Novel

Acclaimed filmmaker Khairy Beshara, known for his iconic films like ‘Kaborya’ starring Ahmed Zaki, and ‘Ice Cream F Gleem’ starring Amr Diab, will soon release his first novel.

The filmmaker’s debut novel, ‘El Kebreyea’ El Seeny’, is a humorous exploration of Chinese culture and the parallels he finds in Egypt. The plot follows Kong Yung, who flees China in the 1930s to escape poverty and hunger, and ends up in an Egyptian village.

A teaser promo narrated by actor Asser Yassin poses the question, “What would make Khairy Beshara write a novel?” The Tanta-born filmmaker directed multiple series, feature and short films definitive of Egypt’s social realism genre which emerged in the 1980s.

Published by Dar El Sherouk, the novel is set to hit bookstores on March 15th.
