Egypt's Canals Are Being Cleaned
Egypt's plan to clean the country's canals by mid-2022 has thus far created thousands of jobs and brought about a plethora of economic and environmental benefits.
The first phase of Egypt’s plan to clean all its canals by mid-2022 is in effect. 2,248 kilometres out of the 8,233 kilometres allocated to this phase have already been rehabilitated, with plans to continue expanding the work until it covers the entire country.
Thousands of jobs have been created, water usage has been reduced, farmers are receiving their share of water quicker, and land value has gone up, among a plethora of other environmental and economic results that will continue to have a momentous impact on agriculture across Egypt.
