Posted to their official Facebook page, the Egyptian Museum has just released a set of rare photographs which immortalise the moment a group of statues of King Menkaure were discovered in Giza in 1908.

Part of Harvard University’s Giza Project, the dig uncovered statues dating back to the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom era (2490 - 2472 BC).The historic discovery is documented stage by stage in this set of images, which follow the process of the statues’ excavation.
