Diriyah Company Sets Guinness World Record for Safety Lesson

Diriyah Company has officially broken the Guinness World Record for the largest construction safety lesson, with 2,864 workers participating in a 30-minute session at the Wadi Safar development site in Diriyah. The milestone was achieved in partnership with Al-Rashid Trading and Contracting Company (RTCC) and certified during a ceremony held on April 14th at Diriyah Company’s headquarters.

The safety session, titled ‘Top Five Critical Safety Hazards in the Construction Industry’, was delivered by a single instructor and focused on key risk areas frequently encountered in the construction sector. Designed to improve on-site awareness and foster a culture of accountability, the lesson formed part of a broader regional effort to raise occupational health and safety standards.

To meet Guinness World Records criteria, the event was held in a specially constructed outdoor venue featuring a custom-built stage and gated entry system to accurately verify attendance. The initiative forms part of Diriyah Company’s Occupational Health, Safety, and Security programme, which continues to conduct on-site assessments and training sessions for both internal teams and external contractors.

Diriyah Company currently reports a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 0.0015 across its active infrastructure projects. The company’s safety practices are seen as a benchmark within the Kingdom’s construction sector, especially as large-scale developments accelerate under Vision 2030.

Wadi Safar, the record-setting site, is a key component of the larger Diriyah development. Once complete, Diriyah is expected to house 100,000 residents, support 178,000 jobs, and attract 50 million visitors annually, with an estimated contribution of USD 18.6 billion to Saudi Arabia’s GDP. The broader project is backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and includes luxury residential areas, retail zones, and hospitality offerings positioned just outside Riyadh.
