Google Will Impose 14% VAT on Its Services in Egypt

Google has announced that it will implement a new VAT tax on its services in Egypt.

The announcement was made in an email sent by the tech giant to its customers, in which Google clarifies: “In compliance with local laws in Egypt, starting from July 1, 2023, we will start charging 14% value-added tax on electronic services unless we have your tax registry number.”

The company currently requires users to provide their tax identification number (TIN) in order to calculate their tax obligations.

For the past two years, the Egyptian Ministry of Finance has been levying taxes on online services and platforms. In March, the Ministry amended the law to require foreign service providers to pay value-added tax.
