UAE Announces July 7th as a Public Holiday for Islamic New Year
The beginning of the Islamic year 1446 AH will be officially marked in the UAE as a public holiday.

The government of the UAE has announced that July 7th (1 Muharram 1446 AH) will be a paid public holiday in the Emirates for the Islamic New Year. The holiday will be a paid holiday for both private and public sector employees.
Neighbouring Oman has similarly announced an official paid public holiday and a three-day weekend to mark the new Hijri year.
