Egyptian wrestler Samar Hamza brings home the gold at the Grand Prix Wrestling Championship in Russia. Her victory swing over Russian champion Ekaterina Bukina happened during the final match of the 76kg competition.
Samar Hamza qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics at the UWW Africa and Oceania Olympic qualifiers, which was held in Tunisia in April 2021.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports allocated EGP 12.5 million to help the Egyptian Wrestling Federation prepare for the Tokyo Olympics, alongside individual sponsorship programmes for three players from the national wrestling team.
