UAE Closes Embassy in Tehran

The UAE has announced the closure of its embassy in Tehran and the withdrawal of its ambassador and all diplomatic staff.

The move comes after Iranian retaliatory strikes targeted locations in the region, in response to US-Israeli attacks, widening the scope of confrontation across multiple countries.

In a separate statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned in the strongest terms Iranian attacks targeting the Sultanate of Oman, describing them as a serious escalation, a flagrant violation of state sovereignty, and a direct threat to regional security and stability.

The ministry stated that the expansion of attacks to additional countries is unacceptable under all legal and political norms and warned that such actions undermine de-escalation efforts while heightening regional tensions.

On February 28th, in response to the initial wave of Iranian retaliatory strikes, the UAE released a statement condemning missile attacks on the UAE and the neighbouring countries, and retained its "full and legitimate right to respond to these attacks" in accordance with international law.
