Cultural Organisation Mawred Opens Applications for EUR 13,000 Grants
Artists and writers under 35 from the Arab world can apply for production grants across five disciplines.

Beirut-based cultural organisation Mawred is inviting artists and writers from the Arab world to apply for the 2026 Open Production Awards program. They are offering 25 grants ranging in EUR 6,500 to EUR 13,000, with five grants split across each discipline: Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Literature, Music & Sound Art, and Cinema. Applicants must be under 35.
Also known as Culture Resource, Mawred is a non-profit that supports artistic creativity and cultural exchange in the region. The Production Awards Program, launched in 2004, supports young artists and writers from the Arab region, whether residing in it or in the diaspora.
The program has provided around 400 grants to artists from the Arab region. Last year’s grantees included film makers, writers, composers, dancers, and architects from Lebanon, Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Palestine, among other countries and professions.
From Egypt, Wafaa Samir won a 2025 Visual Arts Production Award for an illustrated book titled 'What Are You Trying to Tell Me?' Jad Chahine, another Egyptian creative, won a Cinema Award for the short fiction film 'My Village Blames Women for the End of Mankind'. Applications close on October 31st, 2025, at 4 p.m. Beirut time. You can find the application on their Instagram page or website.
