Egyptian Film ‘Life After Siham’ Screens Across 50 French Cities
Namir Abdel Messeeh’s documentary enters commercial release in 53 cinemas across France following festival recognition.
Egyptian documentary 'Life After Siham', written and directed by Namir Abdel Messeeh, is currently screening commercially in 53 cinemas across 50 cities in France, including Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, Lille, Nantes, Nice, Toulouse, Montpellier and Rennes.
The film traces Abdel Messeeh’s personal journey following the death of Siham, reflecting on grief, memory and family history shaped between Egypt and France. Blending the personal and the archival, the documentary centres on the filmmaker’s attempt to understand loss while revisiting the stories and relationships that define his family.
The cast includes Siham Abdel Messeeh, Waguih Abdel Messeeh and Nermeen Abdel Messeeh. A post-screening discussion with the director followed a recent showing at Les 3 Luxembourg cinema in Paris.
The film’s technical team includes cinematographer Nicolas Duchêne, sound designer Roman Dymny, editors Benoît Alavoine and Emmanuel Manzano, with an original score by Clovis Schneider.
It is produced by Awdia Films in partnership with Camille Lamel, Les Films d’Ici, Red Star and Ambient Light, and distributed in France by Splitscreen and Météore Films. ‘Life After Siham’ premiered internationally in 2025 as part of a parallel programme dedicated to independent cinema at the Cannes Film Festival.
The documentary went on to receive multiple awards at the El Gouna Film Festival 2025, including the Silver El Gouna Star for Best Documentary Film, Best Arab Documentary and the CineGouna Emerge EU Award for Best Feature Documentary. It also won the Grand Prize at the Amiens International Film Festival in France.
