French Institute Showcases Palestinian Arts With ‘Ici La Palestine’

The French Institute in Cairo is organizing a vibrant showcase of Palestinian culture on April 27th and the 28th titled ‘Ici La Palestine’ (‘Here, Palestine’).

The ‘Gaza Habibti’ Exposition by Mohamed Salem highlights the resilience and creativity of Palestinian artists. Exhibits titled ‘Gaza Stories’ by Iyad Al-Asttal, and ‘Design for Resistance’ by Ghalia Elsrakbi and Engy Aly, offer glimpses into life in Gaza through various artistic mediums. Additionally, the screening of ‘Dear Children’ by Salvatore Cataldo provides a poignant exploration of the Palestinian experience.

On April 28th, attendees can engage with Atelier ‘Artworks in Transit: Art's displacement from Gaza’ by Hala Al Naj and the Butterfly Collective, offering insights into the challenges faced by Palestinian artists. A video conference with Palestinian writer Mohamed Sabaaneh, author of ‘I won't leave. My story is the story of Palestine’, offers a unique opportunity for dialogue and reflection with Palestinian authors and artists.

The event culminates with a Dabke dance workshop providing an immersive cultural experience and a concert by the MAQAM band, showcasing the rich musical traditions of Palestine. The showcase will also feature a bazaar, where you can browse through handmade crafts and traditional Palestinian cuisine.
