GFF to Host ‘Seven Egyptian Cities That Embraced Cinema’ Exhibition
The exhibition will spotlight Egyptian cities that have hosted the filming of significant Egyptian and international films.
El Gouna Film Festival is set to return with its 7th edition, featuring a variety of special events and exhibitions, including the ‘Seven Egyptian Cities That Embraced Cinema’ exhibition, which will spotlight the Egyptian cities that have played a pivotal role in cinematic history by hosting significant film productions.
“The idea for the exhibition came from Marina Ibrahim, one of the participants in last year's participants in the CineGouna ‘EMERGE’ program,” Marianne Khoury, Artistic Director of El Gouna Film Festival, tells CairoScene. “[The idea is] based on research conducted by her father, journalist Ibrahim Mesiha, on the Egyptian cities that have hosted the filming of significant Egyptian and international films.”
The decision follows in the footsteps of previous editions, which highlighted the works of notable figures such as Egyptian writer and novelist Ihsan Abdel Quddous and film art director Onsi Abou Seif. The 7th edition of El Gouna Film Festival will be held from October 24th to November 1st.
