Photographer Ali Zaraay Selected for Joop Swart Masterclass 2024
Ali Zaraay is an Egyptian visual artist and photojournalist who focuses on changes to Cairo’s urban landscape.
Egyptian photographer Ali Zaraay has been selected amongst 12 participating photographers for World Press Photo’s Joop Swart Masterclass 2024. The Masterclass is the organisation’s paramount educational program, promoting photojournalism and documentary photography with a focus on the MENA region.
Ali Zaraay is a visual artist and photojournalist who focuses on changes to Cairo’s urban landscape, gentrification and social mobility in the city. He has been involved in numerous public exhibitions, and since 2015 has been involved in a long-term project documenting the nomadic Bedouin tribes of Egypt.
Amongst the 12 participants are Palestinian photographers Belal Khaled and Samar Abu Elouf, as well as Lebanese photographer Myriam Boulos.
