Egypt’s Farah Emara Named in Top Three of Global TiE Women Competition
The co-founder and CEO of Freshsource beat out over 100 applications from the MENA region alone.
The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) has announced the winners of the second edition of its global initiative, TiE Women, which aims to empower female entrepreneurs. Among the top three, Farah Emara - co-founder and CEO of Freshsource - came in third place, taking home a prize of $10K.
Freshsource launched in 2018 as the region’s first B2B online platform for fresh fruits and vegetables. Alongside her brother and co-founder, Omar, Emara works with small farmers who lack access to the market and aim to streamline the supply chain with a view to increasing income for farmers by removing middlemen.
This year’s edition of TiE Women - its second - welcomed over 100 applications from the MENA region alone. Emara was bested by Neha Jain, founder and CEO of Indian sustainable packaging specialist, Zerocircle, in first place, and Myra Arshad, co-founder and CEO of ALT TEX, a Canadian company that focuses on producing a sustainable polyester alternative.
