French Automotive Firm Valeo Launches AI Development Hub in Cairo
Valeo’s new Cairo centre will integrate AI into software production and support smart mobility systems, with plans to scale its engineering team.
French automotive technology company Valeo has launched a new AI development hub in Cairo, marking 20 years of its operations in Egypt.
The facility will begin with a team of 35 engineers, with plans to expand to more than 100 specialists, and will operate as part of Valeo’s global AI network. The hub is designed to integrate artificial intelligence into embedded software and software production, while contributing to Egypt’s positioning as a destination for global software investment.
The Cairo AI Development Centre is focused on accelerating AI adoption across Valeo’s operations to improve productivity, while also developing advanced tools for next-generation smart mobility systems.
Valeo Group CEO Christophe Périllat said the launch aligns with the company’s global strategy to integrate AI into engineering processes, particularly in software development. ITIDA CEO Ahmed Elzaher said the expansion reflects ongoing efforts to position Egypt as a global hub for digital services through investment and talent development.
Valeo Egypt is the company’s largest software development centre globally, contributing nearly half of its total software output and delivering around four million research and development hours annually. Established in 2005, the site employs approximately 3,000 engineers working on systems including automated parking, digital cockpit platforms, electric vehicle powertrains and smart lighting.
The company said AI is already being integrated into its development processes, with coding assistance tools deployed across its global engineering teams and 35% of validated software code produced using AI as of the first quarter of 2026.
Valeo operates in 29 countries with a workforce of around 100,000 employees and reported revenues of approximately EUR 20.9 billion in 2025.
