MENA Edutainment Platform Jeel Raises $1.2M in Seed Funding
The platform, which offers content for kids, has announced its intention to channel its new funding into expanding services and content and strengthen its team.
Edutainment platform, Jeel, has raised $1.2 million in a seed fund from Jordanian and Kuwaiti angel investors.
Founded in the US and based in both Cairo and Riyadh, Jeel’s platform is designed to meet certain educational and psychological criteria, under the supervision of parenting specialists. It gives children access to a wealth of bilingual English and Arabic edutainment content, while allowing parents to curate their children’s usage of the app through its rich control tools.
With the new funds, Jeel will strengthen technical capabilities by building on its team of over 60 full-time employees and 150 part-time and freelance creatives. Additionally, it will expand services and content, which currently include exclusive series, songs, and games for children aged between 3 to 9 years old.
“We all aim for the sky since we are working with passion on a promising platform that creates a unique, fun environment for parents and children,” said Ahmed Rashed, an Advisory Board Member with Jeel.
Rashed added that “the platform is witnessing a great growth potential, especially with the unprecedented demand for digital entertainment and educational services due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
