UAE to Co-Chair 2027 AI Summit With Switzerland & Host 2028 Edition

The United Arab Emirates has announced that it will co-chair the 2027 Artificial Intelligence Summit with Switzerland in Geneva and host the 2028 edition, marking an expanded role in global AI diplomacy.

The announcement was made during the AI Impact Summit 2026, held in New Delhi from February 16th to 20th, and positions the UAE at the centre of ongoing international discussions on artificial intelligence standards, safety frameworks and responsible deployment.

Under the plan, the UAE will work alongside the Swiss Confederation to convene policymakers, technologists and international organisations at the 2027 summit in Geneva, before assuming hosting responsibilities the following year. The back-to-back roles signal continuity in shaping dialogue around the economic, regulatory and societal dimensions of AI.

The announcement emphasised the importance of multilateral coordination in developing balanced AI policies. It outlined priorities including advancing cross-border cooperation, promoting safe and inclusive use of artificial intelligence, expanding knowledge transfer and capacity building, particularly for developing countries, and contributing to international governance frameworks addressing shared risks and opportunities.
