1,000 Fruit Trees to Be Planted Across Dokki
The initiative aims to improve air quality, public health, and urban aesthetics through strategic planting across the city.
The Giza Governorate has announced a new initiative to plant 1,000 fruit trees in strategic locations across Dokki. Spearheaded by the Governor of Giza, Eng. Adel El-Naggar, the tree-planting campaign began at Al-Hikma Square Park in Dokki and will gradually extend to other areas.
This initiative is part of the larger national 100 Million Trees campaign, which aligns with Egypt's Vision 2030 and sustainable development goals. The effort is a collaborative project between the Giza Governorate and the Engineers Syndicate in Giza, with the aim of improving air quality, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting public health through increased green spaces.
A variety of fruit trees, including pomegranate, guava and lemon, have been chosen for their suitability to local weather conditions and their low water consumption. These trees will be planted in public squares, parks, and clubs affiliated with the Engineers Syndicate, including areas in Bahr Al-Azam and the 6th of October City.
The initiative also focuses on maintaining and enhancing existing green spaces, ensuring the aesthetic appeal of these areas.
To complement the green initiative, Giza is considering contracting a specialized cleaning company to improve waste management practices, which will include household waste collection and proper disposal of public dump waste. The governorate is also exploring a project to recycle demolition and rubble waste, transforming it into materials suitable for street paving.
