14M Worshippers Visit the Prophet’s Mosque in First Half of Ramadan

More than 14 million worshippers have gathered at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah during the first half of Ramadan, as visitors from across the world arrived to pray at Islam’s second holiest site.

Throughout this period, more than 4.5 million Iftar meals were distributed, and the consumption of Zamzam water reached 3,650 tonnes. Additionally, a total of 379,372 permits were issued for visitors to Al Rawdah Al Sharifah, the area within the mosque where the tomb of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) is located.

The occupancy rate of designated prayer areas inside the mosque reached 93%, while overall occupancy across the outer courtyards exceeded 80%. On the roof of the mosque, the occupancy rate stood at 33%.

Authorities in Madinah are working to enhance transportation services for worshippers during Ramadan. A shuttle bus service operates several routes to the Prophet’s Mosque, and there are plans to increase the number of buses, stops, and operating hours.

Inside the mosque, over 250,000 worshippers have used cart transportation, while 50,000 wheelchairs have been provided to assist the elderly and individuals with limited mobility.
