18 Logistics Zones to Be Established With SAR 10 Billion Investment
Announced at Riyadh's Supply Chain Conference, the zones aim to enhance integration across transportation modes.
The Ministry of Transport and Logistics announced the establishment of 18 logistics zones worth over SAR 10 billion.
The announcement came during the inauguration of the sixth edition of the Supply Chain and Logistics Conference in Riyadh. The ministry highlighted progress in maritime logistics, citing a 231.7-point increase in the maritime navigation connectivity index as reported by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development for 2024, as well as the addition of 30 new shipping lines to Saudi ports.
In the rail sector, plans are underway to expand and double the Northern Train line, an investment exceeding SAR5 billion, to support future growth in Saudi Arabia’s mining industry. The Kingdom’s transport and logistics sector aims to increase the number of logistics zones from 22 to 59 by 2030, enhancing commercial movement and overall competitiveness.
On the first day of the conference, 86 agreements were signed to boost supply chain performance. The event, featuring participation from 65 international and local companies, also included an exhibition aimed at showcasing innovations and fostering collaboration, as well as the launch of initiatives to empower women in the logistics sector through training and development opportunities.
