399 Mosques Across Egypt Were Built or Renovated Since July 2023
Some of this year’s most significant renovations include the 1,033 year-old al-Hakim bi Amrillah mosque.
Over the past year, the total number of mosques opened has reached 399, comprising 308 new mosques or replacement and renovation projects, along with 91 mosques that have been maintained and developed.
Some of this year’s most significant renovations include the 1,033 year-old al-Hakim bi Amrillah mosque, the oldest Ottoman mosque in Cairo, Sariyat al-Jabal mosque, 900 year-old al-Aqmar mosque and the world-famous al-Sayyeda Nafisa mosque, to name a few.
Meanwhile, the past nine years have witnessed the replacement, renovation, maintenance, and furnishing of 11,421 mosques at an estimated cost of EGP 15.5 billion.
