AUS Extends Online Learning Through End of Term
The decision comes in line with guidance from the Ministry of Higher Education, which has extended distance learning across universities until at least April 17th, 2026.
The American University of Sharjah will continue delivering all teaching online for the remainder of the spring semester, in a move aimed at providing greater stability and clarity for students and staff. The decision comes in line with guidance from the Ministry of Higher Education, which has extended distance learning across universities until at least April 17th, 2026. While the national directive sets a temporary timeframe, the university has opted to extend online instruction through the end of the term to ensure continuity and minimise disruption. According to the academic calendar, the final day of classes is May 5th, 2026, with exams scheduled from May 9th to 20th, 2026. Remote learning was initially introduced as a precautionary measure following regional tensions after reported attacks on the UAE and other Gulf countries on February 28th, 2026. Since then, universities have been operating under shifting timelines, which has led to uncertainty in academic planning.
