Abu Dhabi Pilots EV Infrastructure for Last-Mile Delivery With talabat
The pilot will develop charging and battery swap infrastructure for last mile deliveries and aims to reduce emissions while assessing wider adoption with Talabat in Abu Dhabi.
A pilot programme supporting electric mobility in last-mile delivery has been launched in Abu Dhabi through a collaboration between the Integrated Transport Centre and talabat. The initiative introduces specialised charging and battery-swapping infrastructure designed to reduce downtime for delivery vehicles and improve operational efficiency in high-demand areas.
According to the Integrated Transport Centre, an affiliate of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, dedicated zones for electric vehicles have been established to support battery swapping and assess the potential for scaling talabat’s electric delivery fleet. The pilot will also examine ways to optimise fleet performance while lowering emissions and supporting a smart and safe transport system.
From talabat’s side, the pilot forms part of broader efforts to integrate electric mobility into last-mile operations. The company said the project allows it to test infrastructure that could enable wider adoption of electric vehicles, with a focus on reducing emissions and improving safety for drivers and road users.
