Al-Azhar University to Open AI & Islamic Archaeology Faculties in 2025

Al-Azhar University has announced the opening of two new faculties in the upcoming academic year: the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and the Faculty of Archaeology and Islamic Heritage. The announcement was made by Dr. Salama Gomaa Dawoud, President of the University, during the inauguration of a scientific symposium on artificial intelligence applications in engineering.

Dr. Dawoud emphasised the university's commitment to keeping pace with global technological and academic advancements. He noted that the establishment of the new faculties aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030 development goals, aiming to equip graduates with specialized skills for the country’s evolving job market.

The Faculty of Artificial Intelligence will focus on cutting-edge technologies, including machine learning, data science, and robotics, preparing students for roles in AI-driven industries. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Archaeology and Islamic Heritage will offer programs in historical preservation, cultural heritage management and archaeological research.
