Aswan’s Benban Will Host Dates Production Facilities Worth EGP 10M

The village of Benban in Aswan, best known as the site of the massive Benban Solar Park, is set to become home to a new major dates production complex. According to an announcement by Aswan Governor Brigadier Ashraf Attia, a feasibility study is currently underway for the construction of an integrated dates manufacturing facility in Benban village at an investment cost of EGP 10 million.

Spread over a 21,000 square metre area, the new complex is envisioned as a hub for dates processing and packaging with the goal of producing between 5,000 to 7,000 tons of packaged dates annually in its first phase of operations. The facility would generate some 200 jobs for local residents, capitalising on Benban's standing as a global solar energy production leader to bring economically sustainable industries to the region.

With annual date production in Aswan Governorate estimated at over EGP 25 million, the complex is designed to add value to the crop and facilitate its export to international markets via logistical and manufacturing services meeting global standards. International bank guidelines are being followed to ensure the facility and all operations adhere to worldwide quality certifications.
