Breaking: Meta Appoints Egypt-Born Dina Powell McCormick as President
The former Goldman Sachs partner and White House official joins Meta’s top leadership team.
Meta has appointed Egypt-born Dina Powell McCormick as its new president and vice chairman, adding a senior figure with experience in global finance, government and economic policy to its executive leadership team.
The company said Powell McCormick will help guide Meta’s overall strategy and execution, working closely with its compute and infrastructure divisions.
Her remit includes oversight of multibillion-dollar investments in data centres, energy systems and global connectivity, as well as the development of new strategic capital partnerships. Born in Cairo and raised in the United States, Powell McCormick previously served on Meta’s board of directors.
Commenting on the appointment, Meta founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said her background in global finance and international affairs positions her to support the company during its next phase of growth. Powell McCormick brings more than 25 years of experience across the private and public sectors.
She spent 16 years at Goldman Sachs as a partner in senior leadership roles, and later served in two US administrations. Her government roles included deputy national security adviser under President Donald Trump and senior positions at the US State Department during the George W. Bush administration.
Most recently, she was vice chair and president of global client services at merchant bank BDT & MSD Partners.
