CAPMAS: Gender Ratio in Egypt Shows 100 Females for Every 106 Males
Meanwhile, females make up 16.9% of the total workforce, while men account for 70.3%.

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAMPAS) reported that its recent gender ratio statistics show that there are 100 females for every 106 males across Egypt.
Females represent approximately 48.6% of the total population, while males make up around 51.4%, with a total female population of 52.2 million out of Egypt's official 107.3 million. This ratio is similar to data from January 2024, when women totaled 51.4 million out of 105.9 million.
The data for the 2023/2024 academic year reveals that female enrollment in higher education stands at 49.6%, slightly behind men at 50.4%. In terms of education, females represent 23.6% in pre-primary education, 104.5% in primary education, 106.1% in preparatory education, 41.6% in general secondary education, 16.7% in commercial vocational education, and 11.7% in industrial vocational education. Notably, the dropout rate for females in preparatory education is slightly lower than that for males, at 0.6% compared to 0.7%.
Regarding the workforce, females make up 16.9% of the total workforce, while men account for 70.3%. This disparity is reflected in higher unemployment among women at 17.1%, compared to 4.2% for men. However, 83.8% of working women held permanent positions, compared to 61.4% of men.
