Café Riche’s Downtown Building Will be Turned Into a Boutique Hotel
Al Ismaelia for Real Estate Development is set to develop the iconic Talaat Harb building, alongside planned investments of EGP 300 million this year.

The iconic Café Riche building in Downtown Cairo is set to be redeveloped into a boutique hotel. Established in 1908, the Talaat Harb Street landmark long served as a gathering place for Egypt’s intellectuals, artists, and politicians.
Al Ismaelia for Real Estate Investment announced that the project is part of a wider redevelopment plan, which also includes transforming the nearby Tamara Haus into a hotel and cultural destination. The company is investing EGP 300 million this year across these and other Downtown projects.
Café Riche will remain open, according to a statement from Al Ismaelia for Real Estate Development to CairoScene.
