Camel Racing Festival to Take Place in Sharm El Sheikh January 2025
The Ministry of Youth and Sports gears up for a camel racing festival with 200 camels and 10 races in Sharm El Sheikh.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with the Egyptian Camel Racing Federation, is set to host a camel racing festival in Sharm El Sheikh in January 2025. The event will take place at the Sharm El Sheikh Camel Racing Track.
The festival will feature 10 competitive races, accommodating categories for robot riders and human jockeys. Over 200 camels from governorates such as South Sinai, North Sinai, Ismailia, Suez and Sharqia are expected to participate, with one of the main highlights being a two-kilometre race for young camels aged two years old.
The event follows a series of preparatory activities held earlier this year, including a smaller-scale festival at the same track, which helped generate momentum for the upcoming competition.
The festival will also see significant participation from local Bedouin tribes and support from cities such as Nuweiba, Dahab and Tor Sinai, reflecting their deep connection to the sport.
