Caregivers of Elderly Parents in Abu Dhabi Eligible for Flexible Work

Caregivers in Abu Dhabi who look after elderly parents can now apply for flexible work arrangements under a new phase of the government-backed ‘Barakatna’ initiative, aimed at improving the well-being of senior citizens at home.

Launched in early 2025 by President Sheikh Mohamed, the initiative supports stable and healthy lives for the elderly in family settings. The latest phase also includes support for home modifications to better accommodate elderly residents, along with temporary alternative care options when caregivers are unavailable.

The update is part of Abu Dhabi’s broader strategy to improve home care, promote work-life balance, and acknowledge the role of families in supporting elderly well-being. It aligns with wider efforts to reform HR policies and create more supportive environments for both employees and senior citizens.
