Cash Support for Takaful & Karama Families Reaches EGP 41B Annually
The Takaful and Karama programme continues to offer financial assistance to low-income families, elderly people and individuals with special needs as its cash support allocations are increased.
Cash support allocations for Takaful and Karama recipients has increased to EGP 41 billion annually in the 2024-25 financial year, with 4.7 million families receiving over EGP 3 billion monthly.
First launched in 2015, the Takaful and Karama cash support programme offers financial aid to low-income families, elderly people and individuals with special needs, with a particular focus on Upper Egypt.
This increase in cash support allocations for the programme comes after the expansion of Egypt’s health insurance coverage in September to include 8.5 million citizens. This expansion encompassed Takaful and Karama beneficiaries, as well as informal workers in the construction sector.
