Child-Safe Mobile SIM Cards Will Launch in Egypt Within 60 Days

A new mobile SIM card designed specifically for children is set to be introduced in Egypt within 60 days, following ongoing technical preparation and testing.

According to the National Telecom Regulatory Authority, the SIM is currently undergoing trials with the country’s four telecom operators ahead of its commercial rollout.

The update was presented during a session of the House of Representatives Communications and Information Technology Committee, chaired by Ahmed Badawy, which reviewed perspectives from school and university student unions on a draft law regulating children’s use of social media platforms.

Rafat Hindi, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, said the SIM will be launched within a maximum of 60 days, once testing phases are completed.

Officials said the initiative forms part of broader efforts to support safer digital access for children, with an emphasis on parental oversight and monitoring when using both mobile services and fixed internet connections.
