Coding Contest 2023 ICPC World Finals Takes Place at AASTMT in Luxor

The ICPC International Collegiate Programming Contest, a prestigious global programming competition, took centre stage in Luxor, Egypt from April 14th to the 19th.

Hosted by The Arab Academy for Science, Technology, & Maritime Transport (AASTMT) under the auspices of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the event attracted over 2,500 participants from 111 countries from around the world including the US, Canada, China and Russia, as well as countries from the region like Syria and Jordan. Among them were 226 teams representing the top 1% of programming students from renowned institutions such as Stanford, Oxford and MIT.

As the headquarters for ICPC Africa and the Arab Region for the past 15 years, AASTMT has been dedicated to supporting and promoting ICPC events, ensuring continuity and excellence in programming education. The 2023 ICPC World Finals marked a historic moment for AASTMT, as it showcased its commitment to fostering the next generation of problem-solvers and innovators. AASTMT embraced the opportunity to showcase its vibrant academic community and diverse range of degree programs, from computing, archaeology and maritime transport, to engineering, renewable energy and artificial intelligence.

Beyond the competition, the ICPC World Finals in Luxor provided a platform for participants to exchange ideas, engage with industry leaders and professors, and immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of Egypt.
